Try Sewing - Workshop
Let your child discover the fun of sewing in our Try Sewing - Workshop!
This free workshop is perfect for kids who want to explore sewing for the first time. They’ll get to try out a sewing machine, learn how to thread it, and have a play with stitching to see how it all works.
It’s all about having fun, getting comfortable with the machine, and seeing if sewing is something they’d love to learn more about.
For kids in Years 4–8
Please note: Although this workshop is free, bookings are still required so we can prepare enough machines and materials.
Where
Devonport Community House
32 Clarence Street, Devonport, Auckland
What will we make?
After learning the basics of how to use a sewing machine, we’ll get creative making our own felt and fabric collage!
Choose from our collection of colourful fabrics and shapes, create your own designs, or use some of our pre-prepared pieces as a starting point. Then you’ll use the sewing machines to bring your collage to life.
We love seeing how different every project turns out — there are no two alike! You’ll get plenty of time to really have a go on the sewing machines and head home with something creative that you’re proud to have made yourself.
Classes are held in the Rimu Room. Head in the main front doors, to the left and up the stairs.
