Learn to sew at Kristin School!

This class is available to Year 4, 5 & 6 Kristin students only.

Class details
A fun, creative after-school sewing class for Kristin students in Year 4, 5 and 6. Whether it's their very first sewing lesson or they've been coming to our kids sewing classes for years, students learn real sewing skills, build confidence using a sewing machine, and create projects they're proud to take home — all in a relaxed and supportive environment.

When
Mondays 3.35-4.45pm

Term 4 starts Monday 19 October and has 6 lessons.
There is no class on Monday 26th October (labour day)
Final class will be Monday 30th November

What students will make

Experienced Students
This term, students will create their own ruffle-sleeved top - a beautiful, wearable garment that looks as good as something from a shop! They'll learn new techniques including gathering, sleeves, facings, hems and closures. They'll also make a padded Drawstring Bag - perfect for carrying treasures, school supplies or taking on adventures.

Both projects build on previous skills while introducing new challenges and helping students grow their confidence as sewists.

Beginner Students
Students new to sewing will learn how to safely use a sewing machine, sew straight seams, follow simple patterns and build confidence through fun projects.

They'll create a range of awesome pieces along the way, including scrunchies, bags, soft toys, skirts and more.

Where
Kristin School
Classes are held in the Kristin Sewing Room.

Students will meet our tutors after-school outside the Junior School Art Room (opposite the retail shop) to be walked to class.

Pick up after class will be from the Sewing Room at the Senior Technology Block.

What to bring
All materials and sewing machines are provided.

Students need:
- Covered shoes
- Long hair tied back for sewing machine safety
